A space for all children and young people to be inspired and get into music and the creative industries

BMC Bursary Awards

Every year we can award 10 of our most promising students a bursary to study, for free, at The Conservatoire. It's an opportunity for us to invest in aspiring young musicians who wouldn't usually be able to afford one-to-one tuition.
Children can develop their technical and musical skills, enabling them to prepare for their music grade exams.

bursary scheme grows

The BMC Bursary Scheme has been delivered in partnership with The Conservatoire in Blackheath since 2002. Nominees are selected from children who have attended BMC classes during the academic year (September to July). Tutors take into account attendance records, commitment, enthusiasm, and musical potential when making their recommendations. The names of the winners, decided by a panel vote, are announced at our annual Summer Showcase event in July.

The Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust has enthusiastically supported the BMC bursary scheme since 2006, funding 8 places a year for our students. In 2008 The Conservatoire, highly impressed with the progress of our students, announced they would fund a further two bursaries themselves. Additionally, those who prove their commitment over their first academic year are offered two subsequent years' tuition at a generous discount.
