A space for all children and young people to be inspired and get into music and the creative industries

Moving mountains...

Creative knowledge and skills cultural exchange

Photographs of the exchange by Sara Shamsavari

In April 2008, young artists brought the sounds and stories of London to Mauritius. They travelled with arts professionals from The Midi Music Company, Sensible Music and WAC Performing Arts & Media College to deliver a series of workshops in creative writing, singing, dance and drama, and to help Pentakruz Entertainment Association establish an eco friendly recording studio and arts academy on Mont Brisee mountain.

Young British photographer Sara Shamsavari travelled with them to photograph the exchange and created the exhibition Moving Mountains...

Sara Shamsavari garnered critical acclaim with her Street Portraits, a series of eye-catching images focusing on “ the uncelebrated beauty which exists in everyday situations and people”(i-D Magazine). Her work has been shown in Selfridges & Co, Camberwell Centenary Gallery, and the Gillian Catto Gallery, and in June 2008 she travelled to New York to exhibit alongside internationally acclaimed Brooklyn photographer and author Jamel Shabazz in a major exhibition entitled “Positivity".

After successful shows at APT Gallery and WAC Performing Arts and Media Collage you can now see the exhibition in its final home at The Midi Music Company.
