AYM (Aspiring Young Musicians)

Fun classes for young people aged 11 to 16 to explore their passion for music!

AYM: Keyboard Skills for Songwriting - £35 (10 weeks)

Ages: 11-16
Times: Thursdays 4.30pm to 6pm
Term dates: 7th May to 16th July 2020, except half term on 28th May 2020

Develop your knowledge of music theory and applied techniques on keyboard/piano. Together we will work on hand position, note values and basic music reading skills. During the course you'll have fun learning  to play major and minor chords/triads, chord progressions and melodies of any song we choose to perform.

You will need: A keyboard or piano and a computer with the Zoom video conferencing App.

Minimum experience: Students do not require experience or in-depth knowledge, just a passion for music and willingness to learn, progress and improve their skills.


AYM: MC / Spoken Word - £35 (10 weeks)

Ages: 11-16
Times: Thursdays 4.30pm to 6pm
Term dates: 7th May to 16th July 2020, except half term on 28th May 2020

Discover and develop your innate skills with language,  turning your thoughts and feelings into compelling performances. Learn how to write using your authentic voice, creating powerful hooks and choruses. You will soon become adept at creating spoken word pieces, using concepts, wordplay and imagery. You'll be guided and encouraged every step of the way to use your voice with power and confidence.

You will need: A device with the Zoom video conferencing App.

Minimum experience: Beginners welcome.


AYM: Music Production - £35 (10 weeks)

Ages: 11-16
Times: Thursdays 4.30pm to 6pm
Term dates: 7th May to 16th July 2020, except half term on 28th May 2020

Whether you are a beginner or have experience producing music on a computer, this course will bring your music to life.

You will learn the fundamentals of producing music, such as drums, melody and arrangement and how to create a great sound. We have rearranged the course, so you can now produce from home. You’ll be guided through the set up of the software and shown useful resources to download samples and instruments to create your own library. The course will cover the basics of Midi instruments and programming as well as sampling and recording.

You will need: Ableton Live (you can currently download a free 90-day trial) on your computer and Zoom for video conference calls. It is recommended you have a midi keyboard so you can play live, but it is not essential for enrolment.
Minimum experience: Beginners welcome.

Cre8tiv® YouTube One-Day - £30 one day course

Time: 10am to 4pm

Master the skills you need to manage your YouTube channel in this affordable one-day class. You’ll learn how to optimise your videos, grow your audience, boost exposure and create strategies to develop your channel.

Led by Rebecca Lammers, CEO & Co-Founder of Laika Network,  you'll learn how to look critically at your content and what you need to market yourself as a musician or creative on YouTube. If you want the confidence to manage your channel, take it to the next level with this one day course.

Highly recommended for new and developing artists!

You will need: Images/video for your channel, prepared video content, your social media links, credit info for your images (e.g. directed by) & your channel, which can range from basic to established.
Minimum experience: Beginners welcome.


Cre8tiv® Choir - £70/£35 concessions

Ages: 16+
Times: Tuesdays 6.30pm to 9pm
Term dates: 5th May to 14th July 2020, except half term on 26th May 2020

Learn arrangements of pop songs along with other singers and record your part to create a virtual choir performance. The sessions will include vocal warm-ups and some vocal technique.  For ages 16+.

You will need: a device with Zoom video conferencing app (download here), a video and audio recording device (smart phone or computer) and headphones.

Minimum experience: Some experience in singing, either solo or in a choir.

Times: Thursdays 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Term dates: 7th May to 16th July 2020, except half term on 28th May 2020

Improve your knowledge of music theory and applied technique on the instrument, or start from scratch and rapidly learn the basics.
